DEION SANDERS has issued a groveling apology after his Colorado Buffaloes stunned Baylor in a shock late win.
The NFL legend’s side were 38-31 winners after chaotic scenes at the end of the Pac 12 clash against their unranked rivals.
With just seconds left of overtime, Baylor were on the verge of scoring a game-tying touchdown with a rush from two yards.
But the Buffaloes then appeared to force a fumble, which went to review, but Colorado fans had already stormed the field.
The PA announcer begged them to leave, before the officials ruled the fumble, and the supporters rushed on again.
Sanders apologised for the fan invasion which prevented him from shaking Baylor head coach Dave Aranda’s hand.
The Colorado head coach said: “That’s not professional.
“I wanted to shake his hand and acknowledge him.”
The chaos at the end ensued after Baylor running back Dominic Richardson attempted to rush for a touchdown
Superstar NFL Draft prospect Travis Hunter was in the way to make a brutal hit, forcing the ball out.
It bounced into the end zone and was picked up by the Buffaloes, but the play was reviewed by the referees.
The supporters rushed onto the field, but the game had not officially ended yet.
The PA announcer screamed for them to get off over the tannoy.
They said: “Ladies and gentlemen, please exit the field, the play is under review.”
However, the call stayed the same on the field, and Buffalo came out on top 38-31.
College football’s 2024 shake-up
Oklahoma and Texas switching from the Big 12 to the SEC is one of the biggest changes to college football in recent times.
And that has set off a chain reaction which has left the Pac-12 conference decimated.
The Pac-12 has lost 10 of its 12 members and is down to just Oregon State and Washington State.
Four of those teams are headed for the Big 12 – Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah.
Another four are going to the Big 10 – Oregon, UCLA, USC and Washington.
And the other two teams, California and Stanford, will join the ACC conference.
No teams have left the SEC, Big Ten or ACC.
All this came after a game-tying Hail Mary at the end of regulation by Shedeur Sanders, sending the game to overtime.
But head coach Sanders and the Buffaloes were slammed for the invasion incident at the end of the game.
One fan said on social media: “Void the game have them replay another time.”
Another added: “Goal posts down before the game was called is wild.”
And one raged: “Colorado fans storming the field like, “It’s over when WE say it’s over!”
And one commented: “That is madness.”
