THE It Ends With Us cast have been icing each other out in interviews and there’s a reason for it.
The movie, based on the book by Colleen Hoover, hits theaters today, but fans have noticed the cast has excluded Justin Baldoni from press interviews and red-carpet appearances.
They even unfollowed him on social media, but he follows them.
Fans started to notice that Justin, 40, had been left out and went to TikTok to put together clues.
However, a real reason for the riff has been revealed.
A source told The Hollywood Reporter that “there was a fracture among the filmmakers in the post-production process, wherein two different cuts of the movie emerged.”

Justin directed and starred in the film and Blake, 36, was the main star and produced it.
RYAN’S INVOLVED
Blake even brought in her husband, Ryan Reynolds, to write a key scene at the beginning of the movie.
“We help each other. He works on everything I do. I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his,” she told E! News.
Ryan wrote a good amount of dialogue for the rooftop scene, despite It Ends With Us having a script by Christy Hall.
However, insiders told the outlet that he didn’t write the whole scene.
HER OWN VERSION
With Blake being a producer on the film, she had a lot of say in its creative direction.
This allowed the Gossip Girl star to make her own version of the movie.
Sources told THR that Blake “commissioned a cut of the movie from editor Shane Reid, who was an editor on Deadpool & Wolverine, and who cut the Lively-directed music video for Taylor Swift’s I Bet You Think About Me.”
However, it is not clear if her cut was the final one used, which was edited by Oona Flaherty and Robb Sullivan.
An insider “played down” the rumors of the friction and said It is normal to have multiple cuts of a movie, with the team in agreement with the final cut.
It Ends With Us Drama
It Ends With Us is one of the most anticipated films of the year. It is based on the book of the same name by Colleen Hoover. However, now that it is out, there has been some tension among the cast.
- Blake Lively, Jenny Slate, and the cast unfollow Justin Baldoni (director and co-star) on Instagram
- The cast does not appear with Justin on red carpets for the movie
- Justin hesitates on Today before being asked about Blake
- Blake and Jenny dodge questions about Justin during interviews
- The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that there was a riff in post-production because there were two different cuts of the film- one by Justin and one by Blake (also the producer)
- Blake brought her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in to write a few scenes and dialogue
- However, a source told the outlet that the team agreed on the final cut
JUST AWKWARD
Although the cast has not addressed the riff publicly, they have left hints of their disagreements in interviews.
On Thursday, Justin appeared on Today and talked to host Sheinelle Jones about the movie.
She brought up Blake and things got a little awkward.
“Is there anything you can tell us about Blake Lively?” Sheinelle, 46, asked.
Justin hesitated, looked away, swallowed, and stumbled over his words before he answered.
“I- I- I don’t know if you know how smart and creative she actually is,” he said.
Justin said that Blake is so much more than an “actress and fashion icon” and that she had a hand in the creative process of It Ends With Us.
CAST CHAOS?
Blake posted a video to her Instagram earlier this week that clearly didn’t feature Justin.
In the video, she and Brandon Sklenar played a game of Pictionary.
The duo exchanged some harmless banter back and forth, with Blake saying she can actually draw and she might need therapy about the game.
Her followers were just concerned about where Justin was since he is the male lead.
“Where’s Justin? Why Justin hasn’t been involved in the promotion of the movie (not as much as the others),” a fan asked.
“Why is Justin Baldoni not in any of the promos they have been doing?? They don’t even follow on Instagram,” asked another.
