Rankings The Giants lost 30-7 to the Buccaneers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Forget any of the final stats, which look bad but aren't embarrassing. This was obnoxious. Three first downs and 45 total yards in the first half. Everyone knew Todd Bowles was going to blitz like crazy — everyone except the offensive line, it seemed.
Tommy DeVito (21 of 31, 189 yards) was overwhelmed in the first half. He was sacked four times in the match. Rookie Tyrone Tracy (9-42) had another costly error — it became a problem. Malek Nebres (6-64) was not targeted in the first half, and suffered some falls while feeling increasingly frustrated.
No catches (only two goals) for Darius Slayton. C John Michael Schmitz was obliterated by Vita Vea on a second quarter sack. LT Jermaine Eluemunor (quad) went out early. Clearly Daniel Jones wasn't the only problem, right?

Defense
Oh, another missed tackle by the gang who couldn't finish it. High school teams get ball carriers down the floor better than this.
Baker Mayfield (24 of 30, 294 yards) ran for a TD and then taunted the Giants with DeVito's signature hand signal. To the victors goes sarcasm. Bucky Irving (12-87) led the rushing attack with 156 yards. A missed tackle by Bobby Okereke set up the Bucs' first TD.
Okereke forced a fumble on Sean Tucker that forced Tampa to accept a field goal. Tyler Nubin caught a great pass on Mike Evans in the first quarter but the rookie safety was run out several times.
An illegal contact penalty on Deonte Banks led to a Bucs TD. Banks seemed content to let receivers catch the ball in front of him and then attempt the tackle. Adoree' Jackson blatantly pulled Evans for a 23-yard pass interference penalty. DJ Davidson had a fumble recovery.

Special teams
Jimmy Gillan's first punt brought the Bucs back to the 16-yard line. His next kick sailed 53 yards and out of bounds at the Tampa 18. He put up a three inside the 20. Good kickoff coverage to pin the Bucs back on the 2-yard line. No field goal attempts for the Giants.

Training
If we hear “we had a good week of training” again, we're going to have to throw something at the wall. Whatever Brian Daboll is selling, his players aren't buying it — and it's getting worse.
It was depressing to see Daboll go on fourth-and-1 at the Giants' 37 late in the first quarter. As for defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, what exactly is his unit good at doing? Tackles are terrible, pass rushing is questionable, and run stopping is optional.
