Ever since FIFA and EA parted ways, we've been eagerly waiting to find out which company will acquire the FIFA license.

FIFA constantly claims that it will launch a new FIFA-branded football game series.

In October, FIFA announced a partnership with Konami to create the FIFAe World Cup, but has yet to release a full soccer game.

Shortly before the 2022 World Cup, FIFA launched four NFT “games” and cryptocurrency-based apps that damaged the football federation’s credibility.

However, FIFA's next gaming project seems to have a bit more credibility even though we have few details about it at this point.

The game will be called FIFA Rivals and will be developed by Mythical Games, which also makes NFL Rivals.

FIFA Rivals will be released in mid-2025, and Mythical Games has only released a short teaser trailer for the game.

However, it will likely follow a similar formula to NFL Rivals since they share a developer.

Despite being a mobile game, NFL Rivals shares a lot of similarities with EA Sports FC.

In both games, you can open packs of cards in order to create your team, and then play with them on the field.

FIFA Rivals will be a free-to-play game and will use in-game monetization to generate profit.

It runs on Mythical Games' proprietary platform, which was developed to increase player engagement and in-game spending.

FIFA may not be what people expected or wanted, but it's one step closer to EA FC's rival than ever before.

FIFA fun

We're not huge fans of the microtransaction model, especially when the developer is so open about how predatory its practices are.

However, this is a huge leap forward for FIFA given its other attempts, especially NFT endeavors.

At this point, it seems unlikely that a major FIFA-licensed game will ever be released and players will have to make do with smaller games like this.
