Molly Crim jumped in to correct Stephen A. Smith after missing an important detail in the first shot.
The show aired as usual on Thanksgiving at 10 a.m. ET on ESPN with a few minor differences.
Joining Karim in the show's New York studio are Damian Woody and Kimberly A. Martin.
But Smith actually called to complete the plate, and did not pick up any change in the set.
First Take began by panning the camera from the turkey feast at the side of the group to the main table.
The desk in front of Karim, Martin and Woody was covered in chocolate.
“I appreciate the chocolate, but it's candy,” Smith said.
“That doesn't come before the actual meat and potatoes, the turkey, potatoes, and stuffing — it comes after.
“I just want to let everyone know that we're not going to twist it on this show.”
But Kareem stepped in to ask Smith if he had seen the spread that appeared on camera just seconds earlier.
“I didn't see that, I'm sorry, my bad,” Stephen A. replied.
And Kareem told him, “Steven A, we're not beginners here, we're not playing.”
Smith responded with a friendly shot at Karim and her love of food.
“I know you're not like that when it comes to food,” he told the host.
Karim then told a story about when she went to a restaurant and was told that she didn't eat much.
She and Stephen A. agreed. However, the person “clearly doesn't watch First Take.”
The show aired as usual on Thanksgiving despite major changes to ESPN's schedule.
There was no Pat McAfee Show, as the program took two days off.
Smith was left this week with his head in his hands after hearing Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones discuss a possible contract extension for coach Mike McCarthy.
Stephen A. said: “I can't believe Jerry.”
“It doesn't really make sense, it doesn't really make sense what this guy is saying.
“There is no reason to talk about your coach as if he feels secure about his future given the shape of your team.”
