BRUNO FERNANDES has scored the “disallowed goal of the season” after his shot was ruled out in the Community Shield.
The Portuguese ace thought he’d given Manchester United the lead with a wonderful finish at Wembley this afternoon against local rivals Man City.
United were unable to beat City this time round after they won 7-6 in the penalty shootout at Wembley.
And in the 53rd minute of the game, Fernandes could have prevented that after he struck the ball from outside the penalty box into the top right-hand corner of the goal.
But as the 29-year-old was about the celebrate the yellow flag was raised disallowing the goal as offside.
And fans have immediately taken to X to react to the impressive goal.
One supporter has even called it a “Disallowed goal of the season?”
While another added: “That was such a good goal by Bruno.”
A third then put: “Insane strike.”
Fernandes then made up for the disallowed goal in the 82nd minute after assisting Alejandro Garnacho’s goal to see United take the lead.

But fellow Portuguese star Bernardo Silva’s goal for City levelled out the scoreline.
After finishing level in the 90 minutes, the game then headed to penalties with Fernandes scoring the first spot-kick in the shootout.
But as Jandon Sancho and Jonny Evans failed to convert it was the Premier League champions who won the Community Shield for the first time in six years.
United will want to redeem themselves in the Premier League which kickstarts next weekend as Erik ten Hag’s side face Fulham in their season opener on Friday night.

Why De Ligt is the perfect Man Utd signing
By Lee Scott
One of Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag’s biggest headaches has been fixing their leaky defence.
Despite still not being anywhere near his peak years De Ligt has built considerable experience so far in his career with Ajax, Juventus and Bayern Munich and he has 45 caps at senior level for the Dutch national team.
While he is not necessarily a highly modern ball playing type of defensive player he is a player with the defensive strengths and instincts to help shore up a United defence that was, at best, leaky last season.
He has a great ability to read the game which was one of the biggest issues that we saw from the United defensive unit last season.
De Ligt is also a master in one-on-one situations, who shows strength and intensity in his duels.
The Dutch star does a good job in keeping things simple and tends to make good decisions in possession.
The pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt makes perfect sense for United and for Ten Hag as a young defender who is still to reach his peak.
He has considerable experience at a high level and he understands the game model and system of play of the manager.
