The Buffaloes finished in a four-way tie for first place in the Big 12, but they will not play in the championship game.

Based on the tiebreaker, Colorado was eliminated in the championship game while Arizona State and Iowa State were in.

Missing the championship game doesn't stop the Buffaloes from celebrating.

They will get a good ball game for their performances this season, and awards will already be coming for their best players.

Shedeur Sanders was just selected to win the 2024 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award.

“The Golden Arm Award winner is honored not only for his athletic accomplishments, but also for his character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities and athletic ability,” according to John Unitas Jr., president of the Golden Arm of Johnny Unitas. Educational Foundation, Inc

Sanders will be the next exceptional quarterback to receive the award, following Jayden Daniels, Max Duggan and Kenny Pickett.

He finished his senior season with 3,926 yards, 35 touchdowns, and eight interceptions on the season. Sanders also rushed for four additional touchdowns.

His 35 touchdowns are a new Colorado single-season record.

Sanders may not be done drawing prizes either. He is a finalist for the Davey O'Brien Award and a semifinalist for the Manning Award.

The Davey O'Brien Award goes to the most outstanding quarterback in college football.

The Manning Award also goes to the most outstanding quarterback in college football, but includes postseason performance in arbitration.

Sanders' exceptional 2024 season is what led him to these award nominations, but he had some help getting there.

A much-improved offensive line has helped Sanders thrive in Colorado's offense.

In light of the successful season, Sanders bought one of his offensive linemen, freshman Jordan Sitton, a $200,000 Mercedes Maybach as a reward for his performance.
