The tragic accident

Destroyer incident The accident happened shortly after 3 a.m. in the 2100 block of Kirby Drive near San Felipe Street. Cole was driving a Lexus SUV northbound on Kirby Road when he lost control while speeding. The car hit the curb, flipped onto its roof, and hit a tree. Emergency responders had to open the vehicle to reach Cole and two other passengers.

The tragedy is compounded by the fact that there were two other people in the car at the time. While one passenger survived and is said to be in stable condition in hospital, Cole and another passenger did not survive. To make matters worse, it appears that all parties involved were at a party before the incident occurred.

Cole Kelly's background and accomplishments

Cole Kelly was born in Sugar Land, Texas, and grew up in a close-knit, active family. His parents, both former college athletes from Iowa State, instilled in him a strong work ethic that would become a defining characteristic throughout his life.

From a young age, Cole demonstrated a passion for baseball that would shape his future. He spent countless hours playing in his yard and eventually joined the Fort Bend Texans baseball team in 2007. Over the years, Cole became a key member of the team, contributing to its success almost every year.

Cole's baseball career was marked by several notable accomplishments:

  • He joined Austin High School in 2012 and joined the freshman team as a starter wearing jersey number 9.
  • In 2014, he was promoted to the varsity team, where his team placed third in the district, earning district honors.

Cole Kelly's subsequent career

After retiring from playing in 2014, Cole moved into coaching. From May 2015 to August 2017, he served as head coach of the Fort Bend Texans. This transformation demonstrated Cole's dedication to baseball and his ability to share his knowledge with younger players.

Cole's talent extended far beyond the local leagues. In 2009, he was selected to play in the prestigious Triple Crown World Series in Steamboat Springs, CO. Additionally, he competed in the WWBA Championship in both 2009 and 2010.
