A legendary NASCAR racetrack will close its doors, much to the dismay of local racing fans.
The famous track where Joey Logano and Kyle Busch raced will be retired.
Irwindale Speedway will close after being home to numerous NASCAR drivers since 1999.
The place is located in Irwindale. caWhich is about 20 miles east Los Angeles.
The track has been the host of a number of series races over the years.
Irwindale Speedway has been in operation for 25 years and will end after the 2024 season.
It ended last Saturday and was celebrated on December 21 as fans bid farewell to the beloved track.
The venue, which was called The House of Drift, was host to NASCAR races, demolition derbies, street legal drag racing, and Formula Drift events.
Fans got to see Cup Series champions Logano, Kurt and Kyle Busch before they became famous in the world of NASCAR.
Irwindale Speedway has narrowly avoided closing in recent years
When Irwindale future It looked bleak in 2017, when Tim Huddleston bought the property Christmas .
Unfortunately, the track was unable to avoid economic pressures with the landowner, IDS Real Estate.
The property will be transformed into a commercial and industrial complex.
“Irwindale was more than just a track – it was a home and gathering place for racing fans all over the world,” Huddleston said.
“On behalf of my wife Lisa and our partners Bob and Maureen Broncati, we extend a huge thank you to our fans, racers, sponsors and the City of Irwindale for their unwavering support over the past 25 years.”
Fans shared their disappointment about the closing of Irwindale Speedway.
One commented: “It's so sad. There are so many great memories in this track.”
“What a shame,” another wrote.
“So sad,” a third added.
“I'm going to miss this track so much,” a fourth said.
