It's all in the hips.
On December 25, Netflix and Adam Sandler released the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Happy Gilmore.
It also featured star football player and Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The 35-year-old NFL player delivers some of the only dialogue in the short trailer, in which he appears as an executive or hotel clerk and says to Happy: “It's great to see you again, Mr. Gilmore.”
This is a continuation of Kelsey's budding Hollywood career, where he was also on Ryan Murphy's show “Grotesquerie” and hosted the Prime Video game show “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”
The first part of “Happy Gilmore” premiered in 1996, with the second part coming 29 years later.
The film revolves around a failed hockey player with anger management issues, Happy Gilmore (Sandler), who needs money to save his grandmother's house.
He discovered a talent for golf and soon began competing in tournaments, angering the golf community with his boorish and nonconformist behavior.
“Modern Family” star Julie Bowen will return in the sequel to play his lover, and Christopher MacDonald will return as rival golfer Shooter McGuffin.
A slew of new stars will also appear in the sequel, including Kelsey, Margaret Qualley, comedian Nick Swardson, Scott Mescudi (aka rapper Kid Cudi) and Benny Safdie, who directed Sandler in Uncut Gems.
The trailer also features a scene of Gilmore confronting a MacGuffin in a cemetery — possibly over the grave of Happy's mentor, Derek “Chubbs” Peterson (played by Carl Weathers, who also died in real life in February, at the age of 76).
During an August visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Sandler said of the film: “It's good. We worked hard on the script, man! We didn't want to let anyone down.”
He added: “People have been asking me for a long time, am I doing Happy Gilmore 2, and I always said, 'No, I'll just let you down'. But then my friend Tim Herlihy and I came up with this idea. We're really excited about it. We wrote – -es We are continuing to try to make it a movie that you guys will like.
Herlihy also co-wrote several other Sandler films, including “Billy Madison,” “The Waterboy” and “The Wedding Singer.”
Regarding Kelsey's appearance in the film, Sandler said: “We have something beautiful for Travis. He will come. He's a very nice guy…such a big handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell. He's a lover, and he's very funny.
“Happy Gilmore 2” premieres on an unspecified date in 2025 on Netflix.
