Azerbaijan Airlines has now revealed that the cause of the accident was “external physical and technical interference.”

The Kazakh Minister of Transport said that the oxygen tank on board had exploded before the plane crash.

The plane was heading from Baku in Azerbaijan to Grozny in Chechnya, Russia.

But tracking data from FlightRadar24 and the plane's transponder shows the final minutes of the plane's flight.

The plane flew in an erratic pattern, repeatedly weaving up and down across the Caspian Sea as the heroic pilots fought for control of the damaged plane.

After arriving on the ground, they tried to descend towards Aktau Airport but continued to struggle to control the stricken plane.
