Jari Montella won again to reduce the points gap between himself and Adrian Huertas in the world championship as he finished the race in twelfth place.

In the opening race of the weekend on Saturday, Jari Montella won the race in Portimao ahead of Adrián Huertas.

Once again, Montella won the second and final Supersport race of the weekend. The Italian will now compete in two races this weekend and is back in contention for the championship title.

The first and second places went to Italian Stefano Manzi in the second race, as he took advantage of the crashes ahead of him to put his Yamaha on the podium. Behind Manzi was Yamaha rider Valentin Debes, and this was the Frenchman’s second podium of the season.

Italian driver Federico Caricasolo was the leader in the second race for the MV Agusta team. However, Caricasolo is still chasing his first podium of the season with the MV Agusta team.

Yamaha riders Lucas Mahias and Glenn van Straalen battled for fifth place in race two. In the end, the French rider Mahias finished fifth and van Straalen finished sixth.

Kan Onko had a strong result for Puccetti Kawasaki Racing Team, putting his Kawasaki in seventh place. Marcel Schröter’s poor form continued as he was penalised in race two and dropped to eighth.

The top ten was completed by two Triumph riders and two Britons. John McPhee struggled through the field and ended up ninth. Behind the Scot was Briton Tom Booth-Amos, who finished tenth again this season.
