Five people have been charged in connection with the death of Liam Payne in Argentina, according to local media reports.
The One Direction star died in October after falling from a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, sending shockwaves through the music world.
Argentine media outlets Clarín and Infobae Now report that among those charged with manslaughter is Rogelio “Roger” Norris, who claimed to be a close friend of Payne's and was with him on the day of his death.
Others accused of manslaughter included hotel manager Gilda Martin and hotel employee Esteban Gracie. Two other hotel employees, Brian Baez and Ezequiel Pereira, were charged with supplying drugs.
Laura Brunyard, a judge at the 34th Criminal and Correctional Court, moved forward with the prosecution. It was revealed in November that three people had been charged in connection with Payne's death but had not been identified at the time.
The One Direction star has died after suffering a serious skull fracture. He was only 31 years old. The singer's funeral was held in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, in November.
In a statement last month, Norris denied any involvement in the tragedy. He said: “I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened.” “I never imagined something like this would happen.”
