Celebrities, producers and longtime fans are remembering actress Linda Lavigne, who died on December 29 at the age of 87.
Many of her former TV and Broadway co-stars, such as Ever Carradine and Katherine Paulson, recalled what it was like working with the veteran stage and TV actress known for her Emmy-nominated role in the 1976 sitcom. Alice And for her Tony Award-winning performance in the 1986 play Broadway Bound.
“Linda Lavin played Conrad Bloom’s mom,” Carradine wrote on Instagram. “Although the show was kind of forgettable (sorry!!), it wasn't.”
Paulson recalled an awkward moment on stage when she played the lead opposite Lavigne, who eventually saved the day by calling for a reset of the play.
“I remember the night the stuck window, the stuck window that the first five minutes of the play were centered around, closed on its own,” Paulson wrote on IG. “I was facing Linda, and she was facing the window, as she heard and saw the window slowly closing. I stared at her with a heartbeat… What were we supposed to do?? She looked at me as calmly as possible and said, 'Why don't you come back and we'll start this again?'” I went to The threshold, raised the window and closed it again, walked out of the theater and we started the play from the beginning.
In 2014, The good wife Creators Robert and Michelle King cast Lavigne as Joey Grubek, a humorless pretrial officer who ultimately keeps Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry) out of prison.
