The state funeral for former President Jimmy Carter will take place over the course of about a week, including several public viewings in Atlanta and Washington.
Carter, the 39th President of the United States, died on Sunday at the age of 100.

The funeral will begin Saturday at 10:15 a.m. ET with the Carter family arriving at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. Current and former Secret Service special agents will carry his remains and walk along as he leaves the medical center.
The procession will then travel through Carter's hometown of Plains, with a brief stop at his childhood home at 10:50 a.m., where the National Park Service will salute him by ringing the farm bell 39 times.
Carter's remains will then be transported to Atlanta, stopping at the Georgia State Capitol for a moment of silence in the presence of Gov. Brian Kemp and other state and local officials.
His remains will then be transported to the Carter Presidential Center for a service at 4 p.m., and will then lie in state for public viewing from 7 p.m. ET until 6 a.m. ET on Tuesday, January 7.
On January 7, the Carter family will fly to Washington, D.C., on the 39th Special Air Force mission, arriving at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland at 12:45 p.m. ET. They will then travel in procession to the U.S. Navy Memorial, where his remains will be transferred to a horse-drawn submarine for a funeral procession to the Capitol. There, members of Congress will pay their respects at the service, which begins at 3 p.m. ET.
Carter will then lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda from 7 p.m. ET until midnight, then from 7 a.m. ET on January 8 to 7 a.m. on January 9. The public will be invited to pay their respects while in the state.
On January 9, Carter's coffin will be transported to the Washington National Cathedral, for funeral services starting at 10 a.m. ET.
Following the service, the Carter family and the late President's casket will be flown to Fort Moore, Georgia, for a private funeral service at 3:45 p.m. ET at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains. The procession will then travel to the Carter residence for a private burial at the Carter residence at 5:20 p.m. ET. Prior to the burial, the U.S. Navy will conduct a flyover of the Lost Man's memorial to honor his naval service and time as Commander-in-Chief.
