Ice-T got a little hot.
The rapper and “Law and Order: SVU” star got into a heated argument with New Jersey law enforcement last May after he was pulled over for expired license plates, calling the police officer “despicable.”
The verbal altercation was captured on body camera footage obtained by TMZ and the YouTube channel Unspoken Crime Murders.
In the video, a Hudson County Police officer begins by telling the rapper that he is being recorded and was pulled over due to a missing front license plate and expired tags (which turned out to have expired in 2021).
Ice-T proceeds to tell the officer that he was on his way to a nearby DMV to update the paperwork for his Porsche, and that he tried to fix the problem at the DMV the day before but couldn't because “their system was down.” “.
According to T, the car's registration was not up to date because it was “parked”.
“Are you sure?” The policeman asks him in the footage.
“Yes, of course I’m sure,” the rapper replies.
“Yesterday I went to the DMV and they told me their system was broken, that's why I'm here. I got seven cars. I'm trying to get them all fixed.”
When the officer asked him about his appointment, the “SVU” star replied: “I don’t need one,” before adding: “They know me.”
After being asked to present his driver's license, Ice-T admits to the officer that his license has expired as well.
“That's why I'm going to the DMV. You have my papers. You're okay,” he said before trying to convince the officer to either follow him to the DMV or let him park his car where he was stopped and walk to the DMV. The sheriff's officer disagreed with either proposal.
“You don't have to be serious about this. I mean you can but you don't have to,” T says in the clip, to which the cop responds, “It's serious.”
The actor is visibly frustrated, and asks the policeman if he will “take me to jail.”
“I'm not taking you to jail,” the officer assured him before saying he would tow the car.
At this point the Ice-T begins to boil. “You're not going to tow my f-king car,” he says.
He continues: “If I am not detained, I will get out of the car.”
Getting out of the car, the “Law & Order” young man walks to the sidewalk and approaches a law enforcement agent, who warns him, “Don't touch me.”
“Give me my papers, you f–king f**king,” Ice-T told him. “Give me my f-king papers!”
The rapper then addresses the body camera and looks directly into the lens.
“Get this on camera,” he says. “This museum is Ker. I'm one foot away from the DMV. You are a hole!
The star continues to record the policeman – whom he calls “Dumba” – on his phone.
As the exchange escalates, backup is called in and cooler heads begin to prevail. A sergeant arrives at the scene and brokers peace between T and the patrol officer, who gives the rapper four tickets — driving with a suspended license, indecent display, no inspection sticker, and missing front plates.
The sergeant told Ice-T that he tried to convince the officer to reduce the number of citations from four to two, but was unsuccessful.
The mayor then allows Ice-T to leave his car parked while he walks to the DMV to update his license and registration.
The officer who pulled over the “SVU” actor ended the tense confrontation by telling him, “Just next time show some respect.”
But Ace wasn't cold, so he replied, “You don't have to.”
