After making her directorial debut in the third season of BearAyo Edebiri has been recognized by the Directors Guild of America for her work.
Edebiri, who also stars in the series, received a nomination Tuesday for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series at the upcoming DGA Awards.
I directed the sixth episode, entitled “Napkins.” The episode follows Liza Colón-Zayas' family chef Tina Marrero and opens up about her life outside of the restaurant. Colon-Zayas was nominated for a Golden Globe for her work in season three.
At the Los Angeles premiere of the film Bear Season 3 Edibiri told Deadline in June that she cried when reading the script for Episode 6 for the first time.
“It's so beautifully written,” she said at the time. “I was really touched by that and really impressed by Chris [Storer] I had it in mind to direct it. I was able to see it as soon as I read it.”
While this is her first directorial credit, Edebiri has received several awards for her acting work Bearincluding the 2023 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She has also won a Golden Globe Award and two SAG Awards for her role.
