West Ham have canceled a scheduled press conference with manager Julen Lopetegui, as the Spaniard's future at the club looks increasingly uncertain.

The 58-year-old was due to speak to the media on Wednesday, ahead of their FA Cup third round clash with Aston Villa on Friday.

This move comes amid expectations of Lopetegui's dismissal, as the Hammers held talks with former Brighton and Chelsea coach Graham Potter about replacing him, initially on a short-term deal.

West Ham spoke with former Milan coach Paulo Fonseca and former Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier, who is now a coach in the Saudi Professional League.

But the belief in both camps is that Potter will get the job.

Lopetegui was on the verge of being sent off before last month's home match with Wolverhampton. But a win in that match sparked a four-match unbeaten run, West Ham's best this season.

However, a 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool followed by a 4-1 loss to Manchester City left the club in 14th place in the table, seven points above the relegation zone.
