Everton sack manager Sean Dyche

Sean Dyche has been sacked as Everton coach after less than two years at Goodison Park.

The 53-year-old departs just hours before Everton host League One side Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup.

Everton confirmed that Under-18s coach Leyton Baines and team captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of the team for that match.

Four members of Dyche's coaching staff – Ian Wan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer – also left.

The Toffees were defeated 1-0 by Bournemouth on Saturday and are ranked 16th in the English Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone.

They have failed to register a shot on target at the Vitality Stadium and have won just three of their 19 league matches this season.
