The Los Angeles Lakers' game against the Charlotte Hornets was canceled due to the deadly fires that broke out in Los Angeles.
The NBA match was scheduled to tip off at 7.30 PT (10.30 EST) tonight (Thursday) at Crypto.com Arena.
This is just miles from where multiple fires destroyed homes and businesses.
It includes the inferno-ravaged home of Lakers coach JJ Redick.
At least five people were killed, in addition to thousands wounded.
But with the police and community fighting against the raging inferno, the game is put on hold.
It is not yet known when they will play the postponed match.
The NBA issued a statement regarding the postponement.
Earlier, the NBA issued a separate statement about the devastating situation.
“We are in contact with the Lakers and Hornets,” said Mike Bass, the team's director of communications.
“We continue to monitor the situation closely to determine if any adjustments to the schedule are needed in relation to today’s match.”
