With Everton slipping above the relegation zone, Moyes' main task will be to ensure the club moves to its new home at Bramley Moor Dock next season to play Premier League football.

The team was sound defensively but remained stagnant under Daiichi's one-dimensional style of play, with the team creating few chances and goals being stopped.

Strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have struggled to score due to a lack of service, but will now have a fresh start under a new coach with different ideas to help get the club back up the table.

Fans are tired of watching the team, and despite the general consensus that sacking Daiche was the right decision, there was a quiet atmosphere in the FA Cup third round tie against Peterborough on Thursday night.

Blues fans have been bereft of success, but a significant problem at the club in recent years has been instability.

The Toffees have been forced to appoint another man to the dugout, and caretaker boss Leighton Baines said there must be “hope and optimism” amid the managerial change.

Moyes is a safe keeper when he returns to his familiar surroundings, as the hierarchy brings back someone many fans wanted. Their mission now is to stand by the new manager.
