The first day of the Australian Open was disrupted by heavy rain and thunderstorms in Melbourne.
The season-opening Grand Slam tournament began as scheduled at 11:00 local time (00:00 GMT) on Sunday.
But the players on the outdoor courts had to leave after about an hour.
Play will not resume at Melbourne Park until at least 17:00 (06:00 GMT).
The wet weather meant that scheduled matches could only be played at Rod Laver Arena, Margaret Court Arena and John Cain Arena, all of which have a roof.
Three matches were completed by 15:00 (04:00 GMT).
The fifth-seeded Chinese Zeng Qinwen, who reached last year's final, and the fourteenth-seeded young Russian Mira Andreeva won in the women's singles.
20th-seeded Frenchman Arthur Fels claimed victory in the men's first round.
Sunay Kartal, the only Briton to participate in Sunday's match, was among the players whose matches were postponed.
The third-seeded British player was scheduled to start her match against Spain's Jessica Pozas Manero at 14:00 (03:00).
