American consumers notice a new line on their shopping receipts – additional tariff fees.
Even with President Donald Trump for 90 days on customs tariffs, companies and clients, they feel influenced, especially those that import their products from China.
Additional fees have appeared across many industries, affecting almost everything from clothing prices to car manufacturing.
Some companies charge flat fees, while others receive a percentage of the total cost of a specific purchase.
Alexandra Fine, CEO and co -founder of DAME, a sexual health company, spoke with the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) about the 5 -dollar “Trump Extra” additional additions.
“It does not cover the full cost – and not even near – but she felt an improvement in pretending everything is fine.”
She said that the additional fees were about “a statement” and allowed customers “to know these policies that affect all of us.”
The company manufactures its products in China, which has been exposed to a 145 % import tariff, amid the escalating trade tensions between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Endi Gasi, CEO of Amazon CNBC recently, recently told the manufacturers that manufacturers will start “passing this cost” to customers instead of trying to absorb them.
There are many third-party sellers in the company-who make up 60 % of the products that are sold on Amazon-in China, and they face the harshest Trump tariff.
Wedding dresses rise in the price due to the definitions. Paul Verley, co -owner of Jan's Boutique in New Jersey, told CBS News that the prices of gowns from China are also rising.
“We hope that the relationship between China and the United States will be fixed and resolved so that we can continue to sell this dress at the price that has been marked,” Verry told CBS News. The perpetrator indicated that most of his sensors come from China and Vietnam.
On Friday, White House press secretary Caroline Levitte said Trump was “optimistic” about a deal with China on the definitions.
Currently, Beijing has a tariff of 84 % on American imports.
“The president has made it clear that he was open to a deal with China,” Levitte said.
She also said that Trump will be “generous if China intends to make a deal with the United States.”
