On Thursday, the Ministry of Culture in Guatemala said that this old city called Los Apowlos – Spanish for “grandparents” – stood one day about 21 km from the archaeological site of UAXACTún.
Los Apowlus gets his name from two sculptures that resemble a person from a “couple of grandparents” there.
The ministry added that these numbers “can be linked to the practices of old rituals to worship the ancestors.”
The city is likely to be “one of the oldest and important festive centers” for the Mayan civilization.
The monuments discovered on the site were rooted to the middle period before classic from 800-500 BC, while the city itself “provides remarkable architectural planning”.
The city covers an area of about six square miles, and is located in the two houses section in North Guatemala.
The researchers also found a 108 -foot high pyramid nearby containing pre -murals and “Farid Channel System”.
“Archaeological investigations included active participation in the international professional Guatemallan, with the support of the University of Kuminius in Bratislava, SlovakiaA ministry spokesman said.
“This joint effort has allowed great progress in exploring, preserving and spreading the legacy of the Mayan.”
Three sites – Los Apowlos, Bumn and Cambia – were discovered through the continuing UAXACTúN archaeological archaeological project in the country.
“These sites constitute an urban triangle formerly known,” added a ministry spokesman.
“These results allow us to rethink the understanding of the festive, social and political organization of two before the Latin.”
The Maya civilization rose around 2000 BC and reached its climax between 400 and 900 m.
It spread across southern Mexico and the current Guatemala, along with some parts of Blaze, El Salvador, Honduras.
The amazing new discovery comes after a 1000 -year -old altar from the old Totohuanan culture in Mexico was discovered in April.
It was drawn with a wall panel of red, yellow and blue – colors related to this culture.
This discovery was seen as evidence of a possible connection between the two cultures.
