LONDON – Police in London are searching for a thief who broke into a haunted mansion and stole more than $13.2 million worth of jewelry, handbags and cash.

The landlords, identified in British media as an Instagram influencer and her developer husband, were not home at the time on December 7. But the staff was there and the housekeeper was about to engage the armed intruder, according to surveillance footage.

“This is a brazen crime as the suspect entered the property armed with an unknown weapon.” Constable Paulo Roberts of the Metropolitan Police said on Monday when the theft was announced.

Among the stolen items were a 10.73-carat diamond ring, diamond earrings, and a clip studded with gold, diamonds and rubies. The stolen items also included handbags worth $189,000.

The homeowners offered a reward of $628,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, and an additional reward of 10% of the value of the items recovered.

Police said the suspect broke into the house by climbing through the second floor window.
