“He's great in running with the ball and exploding across the lines,” Linker said. “And I think it is actually a best way to what he thinks is.

“But when I watch it and deliver it, it is not a tremendous surprise that he can do something like that of a free kick because it is accurate of its corners, for example. If you can be accurate with the ball, you can do this from 25 yards.”

Shearer believes that Rice can also add his game by focusing on his attacking duties. “He has entered into many good positions. [Madrid] “I couldn't deal with him,” said former Newcastle striker.

“Even in the first half, he manufactured two or three smartly smart in the box, and he is great in it. He needs to do so. I think he needs to do so often because he is great in it.”

Speaking after the match, Rice admitted that tonight felt as a major test of his career. “It will not hit me yet because there is another leg to go. I'm excited,” he said. “I am happy, I am above the moon. Within a few years, it will strike me that what I did tonight is really special.”
