Thousands of older British are scheduled to be affected when the country's retirement age rises next year. Currently, retirement pensions are 66 years old for both men and women.

This means that you can start demanding the retirement of the Ministry of Labor and pensions (DWP) from this era. However, next year, you will start gradually, as it has risen to 67 years of April. This transition is expected to be complete by March 2028.

The planned change was brought to the official era of retirement in legislation under the 2014 pension law, with another increase from 67 to 68 to be implemented between 2044 and 2046.

As other than the way it will be implemented, which leads to a gradual increase instead of one historical increase.

Under the current plans, people who are born from March 6, 1961 and April 5, 1977 will demand their government pension once they reach 67, so they will need to work for a year for a longer period of time than the newborns.

It is important to understand these changes, especially if you are close to the current retirement age and have pension plans. However, DWP will contact all those affected by the rise in the coming months. The last increase in the state's retirement age was offered in December 2018 when it started to rise from 65 to 66.

After that, this was completed by October 2020, and those affected by this change were women born in or after April 6, 1953 or a man born in or after December 6, 1953. The next height to 68 would affect those born after April 1977. However, plans may change.

Under the pension law, the state's retirement age is reviewed once every five years. The review often returns the recommendations that the government accepts, rejects, or comments on it.

A review of 2017 indicated that the height should be raised to 68 to 2037-39, which will affect the newborn between April 6, 1970 and April 5, 1978.

However, the 2022 review recommended a slower increase to 68 in 2041-43, and also suggested a possible rise to 69 by 2046-48. The previous conservative party government recognized the recommendations, but it was late, and promised to conduct another review within two years of the next parliament. The following review will be held under labor.
