The head of the pioneering Rally Team team was nominated as a new vice -president of the Sports Chairman at the Motorsport The FIA.
The 69 -year -old girl was chosen by the President of FIA Muhammad bin Salim to replace Robert Reed, who resigned two weeks ago.
FIA members will vote on Wilson's nomination at the organization's general assembly in Macau in June.
Wilson, a former British rally champion, is the administrative director of M-SPORT, who has operated the World Rallly Championship in Ford since 1997.
Reed resigned what he described as “a basic collapse in governance standards on the board of directors of Motorsport International.”
Ben Sulaim Wilson nominated without requesting support or approval Motorsportuk, the national sports authority in the United Kingdom.
“We were not aware that Malcolm was proposing as the Vice President of Sports for FIA. It was a complete surprise to us,” said a Motorsportuk spokesman.
A FIA spokesman said: “Any full member of FIA may decide to support the candidate and make it his representative.”
The President of Motorsportuk Company, David Richards recently, recently criticized the actions of Ben Selim, saying he had a “ethical compass.”
Richards is among a series of critics who described what they say is the erosion of accountability within FIA and the concentration of power in the hands of the president.
In the wake of the resignation of Red, Natalie Robin, former CEO of FIA, broke her silence to leave the organization after only 18 months last summer.
Robin BBC Sport told “she worked under difficult circumstances to enhance the Federation's governance framework and upgrade operational transparency.”
She said that the departure of Reed “clearly indicates that there are continuous serious structural challenges,” adding: “When professional operations are not adhered to and the stakeholders are excluded from decision -making, he undermines a strong organization.”
“Malcolm had a distinguished profession in Global Motorsport.
“For more than 40 years, he competed at the highest level as a driver and technical partner for the team.
“This experience will be invaluable for FIA and our member clubs, where we continue to grow at the level of the popular base and professional car sport, which prompted innovation in this sport for the benefit of fans, drivers and teams.”
In a statement he said, Wilson said he was a “great honor” to be nominated for this role.
Wilson added: “I look very much to support the president and all the FIA family in its important mission,” Wilson added.
“There was no more exciting time to be in motorsport and I know that the benefits that sport brings to families and societies around the world.
“I look forward to working with the president for a while from his current office, bringing our sport to new fans and ensuring the best championship to all our competitors.”
Bin Salim First State as a president ending in December. No one has yet applied to the Emirati opposition.
