An unconventional birth announcement

Last week, I welcomed my first child in the world. About fifteen hours before I went to labor, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Now, before you worry, my doctor says it is stage 0 and she is sure that she definitely did not spread. Or, as I explained to the few who have been able to know this so far: Do not scare. It is only, like, a a little A little cancer.

However, it was not the cold day. I mean, at the very least! I woke up for more than a week of pregnancy a week, completely consumed by doing everything I can get the child out. By mid -afternoon, I was wandering from appointment to an appointment, and I am talking about how to get my country cancer outside. I sat and listened because they told me that the best path of work is likely to be a double breast removal as soon as possible. I asked all the questions I can, including if I can get a copy of the ultrasound for the tumor to place it on the refrigerator next to my child's ultrasound. Finally, by midnight, I was wandering on the floor of my apartment in labor, before I went to the hospital to meet my child, whom I learned at the time of birth was a son.

Good news? People working in hospitals make excellent fans for dark humor – and as someone his first book was about the strength of jokes to obtain painful situations, there was no better place for me. Just minutes after the birth of my son, I was talking to the nurses about what might seem to advertise the birth in my position.

Should I go with “my mother and the child in good condition, except for possibly for my mother's cancer, and then may be dwarfed after breastfeeding by removing double breasts”, then closing my phone for a week?

anyway! These three months of maternity leave will look very different from what I expected, and I am still accustomed to my new realistic. However, while moving in the new motherhood (and new cancer), you learn to celebrate everything I can. I am lucky because we found cancer early; I am lucky to be my mother. I mean, I know that I am biased, but the little dress is completely ruled – not only because it may save my life.

Thank you all for your support, laughter and love, and I hugging this largely unexpected chapter. Here is flexibility, miracles in the midst of chaos, and to find humor and hope even in the most difficult days.
