“Toto has explained to me that the way I do good is like anyone else,” Russell added to the BBC Sport.
“There is only one driver that you can discuss in terms of performance. These are his words, not my words, and for this reason I have no concern about my future.
“But there are two seats for each team and I think it needs to think of these two drivers.”
Russell's comments indicate that his talks with team manager Toto Wolf are late through Mercedes conversations with four times champion.
Verstapen refused to comment directly when he was asked on Thursday if he would stay with the team next year.
“I don't think we need to talk about it,” he said. “It is not really in my mind. Just driving well, trying to pay the performance, then focus on next year.”
The transition to Mercedes can be interesting to Versaben due to two main factors – current performance and future capabilities.
Red Bull has lost the edge of the performance it has achieved since the beginning of the latest regulations that were identified in 2022, and since the middle of last year their car was generally not a match with McLaren.
Versappen said on a number of occasions he does not think he is in the title of the title this season. He is third in the tournament, 43 points behind the leader, Oscar Biasterster McLaren.
Last year, Red Bull lost two main characters who were effective in their success – the design legend Adrian Niwi moved to Aston Martin and sports director Jonathan Whitti in Sauber.
McLaren has also signed Will Curta, Red Ball strategic expert, although he is currently being held in his contract and will not be able to leave until next year.
Meanwhile, Red Bull within F1 is believed to be behind Mercedes in its development of the new engine required to change the main base next year, which will witness new cars and electrical units in F1.
Verstapen may think that Mercedes, who won the last race in Canada with Russell, will be a more competitive proposal than Red Bull.
