Billy Butlin Resorts have been around for nearly 90 years that have advanced that Candyfloss in the UK feels millions of vacationers, but some tiring parts of MineHead need radical care
In the summer of 1996, when I was a four -year -old child, I visited the Butlin's Butlin Resort with my family and some friends. We stayed in a chalet with a cheerful cable working above.
Although I was younger than to remember every side, my parents took many pictures, and as a young man, it was clear that I had a great time, with swimming, entertainment and entertainment at the heart of my enjoyment. Soon to 2025, noticeably, the date repeated the same in more than one way. In May, I spent the week in MineHead with my husband, husband and four -year -old daughter.
I was excited to fall into everything that buton and was looking at the same extent to seeing my little girl lighting up at every turn, one of the pleasures of little life. After a 4.5 -hour trip from Kent to North Dormset, the Minehead approach was beautiful with an amazing scene and a great coast to Marvel.

Modern investment site, old, and 23 million pounds
But with our arrival at the site, Butlin seemed to struggle with its appearance. While we traveled, we received old apartments with Rusty Rawings, with the actor's recognition to the “homogeneous part” of the site where we were directed to our places of residence in a more famous section in the place.
We got to the West Lake Lodge Complex – the latest forms of residence on the site that was opened in 2015. While we opened the door to our apartment, my first hope was disappointed – it was modern, clean and wide and came with a strange balcony overlooking the lake where ducks and yoz were frequently frequently on the grass.
It was a complete surprise at the very least, after an entrance to Mazhar looking for a threat to my morale. It is safe to say that my daughter was ecstasy in the open space and freedom in exploring the moment in which our bags were seized with open open paths, ideal for cycling.
This hostel was comfortable and I have nothing but good things to say – but other other options seem incredibly recklessly, with imprisonment -like rows of abandoned apartments sitting in front of us. Surprisingly, when exploring the site, it came back to the same floor that remained in all these years several years ago, with the same pink and yellow courtyard tiles in the foreground. I can only hope that the interior will be renewed despite the sick external appearance.
Is the complete butnhead butlin post?
In short, the answer is no. Not every bad news for anyone who thinks about a vacation here. In 2024, the site received a cash injection of 23 million pounds to renew 400 apartments, with a holiday company spokesman assuring the pluscinemaz.comthat just over 20 million pounds has already been spent on improvements.
The areas where you can see the money that has been invested is Skypark, which is impressive and was a great lot for my four -year -old. The amount of 2.3 million spraying on this outer site has not seen any stone that did not remain from there, with interactive games, purple for disabled children, and mired in trampoline with lights and soft floors all the time. It was even divided through two sites, so that older children have more challenging equipment to explore, while young people can enjoy the sensory play in their spare time with the coded areas that reflect different feelings.
A new toilet has been opened for changing places, along with a new modern area at the Beachcomber Inn Restaurant.
Arena Studio 36 has also seen some of these money spent – now the main place for the main show. This is in addition to the center stage where we have seen great offers like Snow White Pantomime and Peppa Pig Show. MGER Maker, the Cbeebeies Children, also occupied a show of butlin parties in Studio 36 – with each show we saw our being great from start to finish, with arming hordes of children all the time. This is a region where Butlin excels, and other holiday gardens in the United Kingdom will not approach.
While Pottern confirmed that 400 units were repaired after a flooding in 2023, he said that there is a broader renewable renewal plan on the site.
Butlin is still a good value for money
We have paid the price of the option to eat half of the plate, which means that we can go to the ocean engine A restaurant every day for breakfast and dinner and mainly fill our shoes on the buffet. There was even an ice cream salon inside it as a great bribe to make my daughter for her dinner.
Although the food was somewhat good, the same preparation was experienced and tired – with cheap tables and chairs in the style of the canteen filling the place. What made matters worse, some were not clean. A fast wet survey of one of the chairs revealed dirty glazing, as if it had not been cleaned for some time. The view outside the window was also the most reckless apartments directly staring at us.
As is evident through my experience, there are very good elements with some disappointing aspects that need urgent care. What surprised me most is that a lot of the site seems to have not been touched for decades, with a mammoth mission now costly to try to raise the entire complex to the same standard. Minehead was opened in 1962, more than 60 years ago, but with competition in Britain like Parcs and Haven, there is a lot to do to improve the general sense of the holiday garden.
The main tent is the central point for all Butlin sites in Minehead, Sickness and Bognor Regis, one of the large areas that can do with a little glow in places. But despite this, the huge corridors, bowling, restaurants, and the central area where spontaneous red shows are placed in continuing to withdraw in the crowds. My little girl was happy with all these fun, lively and colorful aspects.

So how much does it cost to stay here? In short, the answer is that it differs, but it is very friendly to the budget. If you are after a basic area – the standard rooms range from 24 pounds per person in May and you can sleep up to five guests over a period of four days. For anyone looking for a touch of luxury, the Comfort Plus Apartments show a slight price leap with 58 pounds to stay for four nights-with home management and include early check-in.
West Lake Chaleets, Seaside Lodges and Bayside Apartments range from 85 pounds per person to 145 pounds per person based on May 2026 prices at the time of verification.
Free activities in Butlin's
The swimming complex was good, and still is a huge plus for Butlin because it is free to use it as it likes. It comes with internal and external swimming pools to explore it, along with the flower and the delightful slices of those looking for excitement. Likewise, outdoor and internal funfairs, which are free of charge and are really preparing for a wonderful value for money, providing parents with a small wealth on horse riding that often reach a beautiful amount after a few hours.
Baladi rule
All, I cannot pretend that Butlin was not a great place for my little girl. It appears that many children are in their element all the time. As an adult, a father, I spent a great week and enjoyed changing the scene and some family time that is needed.
It was a very friendly budget, and we spent much less in a week here more than we did on a short weekend in the center of Parcs.
I will return to the same residence again, and I will be open to explore other sites in the future. But when it comes to MineHead's general appearance, I would like to see the result of all investment in the coming years.
