A BELOVED 80s sitcom is reportedly getting a spin-off, and fans have shared their honest thoughts.
A Different World was a spin-off series of The Cosby Show and ran for six seasons between 1987 and 1993.

The show followed Cliff (Bill Cosby) and Clair Huxatable’s (Phylicia Rashad) daughter, Denise (Lisa Bonet), and her experiences at the fictional Black school, Hillman College.
However, Lisa left after one season and continued around the love story between Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison).
Other cast members include Jada Pinkett Smith, Marisa Tomei, Dawnn Lewis, Darryl M. Bell, Sinbad, Charnele Brown, and Cree Summer.
On Wednesday, insiders revealed to Deadline that the show is currently in early development at Netflix.
However, sources revealed to the news outlet that the reboot will follow A Different World characters Whitley and Dwayne’s youngest daughter.
The couple’s daughter will also be attending Hillman College.
Deadline also revealed that their sources said there have been talks with original cast members to join the show – with most conversations being positive.
Felicia Pride, writer for Bel-Air and Grey’s Anatomy, is set to write the script.
Many of the original writers and producers are also set to return.
Earlier this year, many of the original cast members reunited on The View and Today to discuss the impact A Different World had on society.

On X, fans shared their mixed opinions on the show.
“Now this is one to look forward to,” one wrote.
A second added, “I really hope so! I’ve been waiting since 1993.”

Over the years, a spin-off for A Different World has been discussed but was paused due to the legal troubles with creator Bill Cosby.
