Halfway through the 2024 season, Marc Marquez is still chasing his first Grand Prix win with Ducati..
After ten races in the 2024 season, Marc Marquez was expected to take his first victory with Ducati. However, after the halfway point of the season, the eight-time world champion’s quest for victory continues.
The Spaniard’s best result this season was second place, but Marquez remains confident that he will take his first win with Ducati in the second half of the season.
“We were very close in the first ten races to win,” said Marquez after the British Grand Prix. “But the two tracks I was at, Austin and Sachsenring, were very difficult weekends, especially in Austin when I was leading with a brake problem.”
“We still have ten races to go, it is true that we have three riders who are faster than us, the three riders who are on the 2024 Ducati bikes, they are very fast and they also ride very well. So we will try to do our best and continue to enjoy it, that is the most important thing.”
Reflecting on his weekend at Silverstone, Marquez doesn’t think he did his best after his sprint race accident:
“I feel like I didn’t give it my all, but it’s true that the team did a great job all weekend. For some reason, we started with our base [setup]But we were far from what we needed in this department.
“It was a great surprise in the race to be close to the leaders, especially to have the same pace in the first laps, that was the most positive thing. But in the last 10 laps when I was stuck behind Alex [Espargaro] “On some laps, when I passed him, I pushed hard, but I was thinking more about finishing the race than attacking.”
