DAY TEN of the Olympics is here – and things are heating up across Paris with Team GB picking up another three medals but Simone Biles failing to grab her eighth and ninth.
Team GB picked up a brilliant gold medal in the women’s team sprint inside the velodrome, with Katy Marchant, Sophie Capewell and Emma Finucane setting a new world record in all THREE of their races.
Earlier, the Brits had agonisingly missed out on mixed triathlon gold in the first medal event of the day, finishing in third place, while Kimberley Woods (bronze) and Joe Clarke (silver) both brought home medals in the kayak cross. Later tonight, Keeley Hodgkinson will aim to go one better than she did in Tokyo as she vies for 800m gold.
Elsewhere, gymnastics legend Simone Biles failed to win gold in her final two events of the games, coming fifth in the beam final after a fall and winning silver in the floor event.

With 60 minutes gone, Morocco still lead from that Soufiane Rahimi penalty in the first half.
Spain are trying their best to find an equaliser but the Africans are doing well to defend their lead.
Still a long time to go, they will have to survive numerous onslaughts from the Spanish if they hope to make it to the final.

Now here we go with the proper racing in the women’s team sprint – one team starting on the far side, one team on the near side.
I am imaging a split screen for those watching on TV.
In the first heat, the Netherlands pip China but that does not rule the Chinese out of gold just yet – they just need the other six teams to all go slower.

The women’s team have lost their quarter-final match.
Netherlands proved to be too strong for them as the Dutch ran out 3-1 winners.

Right that’s the men’s team pursuit qualifying all done and dusted.
Eight of the ten nations are through to tomorrow’s first round, including GB who were second behind the Aussies.
But it’s time to wave goodbye to Germany and Japan. Au revoir.

First cries of “Alles Les Bleus” inside the Velodrome as the French come out to their saddles to set their qualifying time.
But before they get underway, a bit of a blunder for Thomas Denis.
The rider, wearing his cleats, takes a tumble on the super-steep banking. Whoops!

That’s the quickest time so far by four seconds.
We are flying!

It is absolutely baking in the velodrome tonight, I am literally sweating at my desk.
Turns out the arena must be kept at 28C – for scientific reasons to do with the actual cycling.
Spare a thought for us journos, though!

Women’s hockey quarter-finals
It has not been a good start for Team GB.
They have fallen behind against the Netherlands early on.
The only positive is that there is plenty of time left for Great Britain to find a way back into this game.
