Toprak Razgatlioglu once again leads the MotoGP World Championship standings, while his closest rival Nicolo Bulega suffered a technical problem that ended the round.

Jonathan Rea loves Portimao because he has the most podium finishes at the Portuguese circuit. Rea has struggled so far in 2024 but a sixth place finish in the opening round of the weekend is a good start for the six-time MotoGP world champion.

The best Kawasaki rider is Alex Laws who is eighth, almost a second behind Razgatlioglu. Kawasaki will have a lot of work to do this afternoon.

Michael van der Mark is ninth, the Dutch rider has good memories of Portimao and will be looking to match the speed of Razgatlioglu and Gerloff this afternoon.

Remi Gardner is 10th. The Australian returns to Superbike action after being awarded a wildcard at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Gardner has yet to sign a contract for 2025, but an offer to stay in MotoGP is on the table.

British riders Bradley Rae and Scott Redding are 14th and 15th after FP1, while British riders Taran Mackenzie and Sam Laws have also missed the race this week to recover from injury.
