Bautista needs to regulate his pace on the single lap if he wants to compete for the title this season as his performance in the Super Pole was disappointing.

Honda jumped up the timesheets today to a position it won’t be used to in 2024. Iker Licuna finished FP1 in fifth. With both HRC riders outside the top 15 in the championship, they need a strong run of form.
Jonathan Rea loves Portimao because he has the most podium finishes at the Portuguese circuit. Rea has struggled so far in 2024 but a sixth place finish in the opening round of the weekend is a good start for the six-time MotoGP world champion.
His Italian team-mate Andrea Locatelli was seventh, just behind Rea. Locatelli is seventh in the first round of the weekend and will be looking to get back on the podium this week.
The best Kawasaki rider is Alex Laws who is eighth, almost a second behind Razgatlioglu. Kawasaki will have a lot of work to do this afternoon.
Michael van der Mark is ninth, the Dutch rider has good memories of Portimao and will be looking to match the speed of Razgatlioglu and Gerloff this afternoon.
Remi Gardner is 10th. The Australian returns to Superbike action after being awarded a wildcard at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix. Gardner has yet to sign a contract for 2025, but an offer to stay in MotoGP is on the table.
British riders Bradley Rae and Scott Redding are 14th and 15th after FP1, while British riders Taran Mackenzie and Sam Laws have also missed the race this week to recover from injury.
