Following his team-mate’s win on Saturday, Ryan Vickers won the British MotoGP sprint race at Thruxton.

After Kyle Ryde won the exciting opening race of the weekend on Saturday, two races on Sunday provided more exciting racing. With a mixed grid, the British Speedway was sure to deliver world-class racing.

On the opening lap of the race, racer Glenn Irwin was involved in a serious crash. The race was stopped and Irwin was taken away in an ambulance.

The race was resumed as a 10-lap sprint instead of the original 12 laps. The starting grid was reset to its original position.

Yamaha Racing took their second win of the weekend at Thruxton. However, this time it was in the hands of Ryan Vickers. After an inconsistent start to 2024, Vickers has found his form since Brands Hatch and has won four of the last five BSB races.

After missing out on a podium last year, Completely Motorbikes Kawasaki rider Max Cooke made his first BSB podium finish. Cooke narrowly missed out on his first ever BSB win, but after the race he was still thrilled with his first podium.

Danny Kent failed to finish the opening race yesterday after being involved in a crash on the final lap, but today the McAMS Racing Yamaha rider finished third, just one day after announcing his plans for the 2025 BSB season.

Two Australians finished fourth and fifth. Josh Brooks has struggled in the 2024 BSB season but managed fourth in the opening race of the day. Billy McConnell continues to impress this week with a second fifth place at Thruxton.

Despite making a mistake on the final corner, Christian Iddon managed to maintain his position in the top seven. The Ducati rider crossed the finish line in sixth place to continue his pursuit of the championship.

Championship leader Tommy Bridewell is still looking for a podium finish on his home turf. The reigning champion finished seventh in the sprint but fought his way back to the lead to secure this result.

Yesterday’s race winner, Kyle Ryde, was unable to repeat his win in the first race. The Yamaha rider managed to stay in the top 10 but could only finish eighth at the finish line.

Leon Haslam didn’t have the easiest weekend at Thruxton, but a top-10 finish adds valuable points to Haslam’s tally for 2024.

After starting on the front row and competing for the podium, Storm Stacey dropped down the order in the closing stages of the race, with the Kawasaki rider finishing in the top ten.
