With five rounds remaining in the MotoGP World Championship, Toprak Razgatlioglu is not yet focused on the championship.

In Portimao, Toprak Razgatlioglu extended his winning streak to 13 consecutive wins, a new MotoGP World Championship record. Razgatlioglu also claimed his 54th MotoGP World Championship victory this week, meaning he has the fourth-most wins in the history of the championship.

After another dominant weekend in which he won all three races, Razgatlioglu was understandably pleased with his performance and results in Portimao.

“It was a great weekend for me,” said Razgatlioglu after the second race. “We broke the record with 13 wins and now I have 54 Superbike wins in my career. I was really fighting in the last race with Bulega and Bautista, but overall I am really happy.”

When asked what it means to him to hold the record for the most consecutive wins in the WorldSBK Championship, Razgatlioglu explained that it makes him feel like a “legend.”

“For me, it’s very special. Every day we become more like legends. Every weekend of racing, especially with BMW, we reach another level. I hope we can win again at Magny-Cours because I don’t know when this series of victories will end. I know the feeling on the bike is good, I’m striving for the win and fighting for it.”

The last race of the week was not easy for the Turkish rider. While overtaking Alex Luz, he lost his left wing on the BMW. Razgatlioglu noticed the difference immediately and fought hard to overtake the Aruba.it Racing-Ducati riders.

“When I finished the race, I saw that the left wing was broken,” explained Razgatlioglu. “The bike wasn’t turning the same way, especially in the last sector. It was unbelievable that I lost so much time there, I was losing almost half a second. On the last lap, I had to give more than 100% because of how much I was losing. My plan worked and I won again. It wasn’t an easy race, but we did an incredible job this week.”

Finally, Razgatlioglu was asked about his 92-point lead in the championship. As usual, the Turkish rider admitted that his focus is not on the championship yet, but rather on extending his winning streak.

“Things are looking good but I’m not focused on that. I’m just focused on winning. If I end up winning the Magny Cours then I’ll focus on the championship,” Razgatlioglu concluded.
