With Pramac Racing changing manufacturers to Yamaha in 2025, the Italian team has yet to announce its rider line-up for next season.
Since the announcement of Pramac’s move to Yamaha in 2025, the rider line-up has yet to be officially confirmed. There has been a mix of experienced MotoGP riders and current Moto2 riders linked to the team.
But with no official riders aboard the factory Yamaha M1s in 2025, here are some riders who have been linked to the Italian team:
Miguel Oliveira:
Miguel Oliveira has been linked with Pramac since the MotoGP summer break. Oliveira looks set to leave Aprilia after two years with Trackhouse Racing. The Portuguese rider has been in MotoGP since the 2019 season when he was promoted to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team. The 29-year-old has five MotoGP wins and two other podiums.
Oliveira is one of the most experienced riders associated with Pramac. Having spent six seasons in MotoGP, his experience at KTM and Aprilia has helped Yamaha on its journey back to the top of MotoGP. However, Oliveira has never been the most consistent rider in MotoGP with his best finish in the championship being ninth in 2020.
Rumors had suggested that Oliveira had officially signed with Pramac for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, but this has not been announced yet.
Jack Miller:
Jack Miller recently stated that He had no options for 2025.2024 looks set to be Miller’s last season in MotoGP, but he has emerged as an option for the Pramac Yamaha team.
Yamaha and Pramac need experienced riders to help them get back up the order. Miller has experience with the Ducati and KTM factory teams over the past four years. The Australian should be helped by Dorna in his efforts to stay on the MotoGP grid to keep more nationalities in the championship.
If Miller moves to Pramac, it will be the fourth factory he has raced for in his MotoGP career, and he will return to the team he raced for in the 2018, 2019 and 2020 seasons.
Sergio Garcia:
Sergio Garcia has been in the Moto2 class for the past two years with the Ponswego Los40 team in 2023 and now with the MT Helmets – MSi team. Garcia currently leads the Moto2 championship, with two wins and three more podiums to his name in 2024.
The Spaniard has been a revelation in Moto2 this season, but he could miss out on a MotoGP race next year. The only team linked with a MotoGP race next season is Pramac Yamaha. However, if Oliveira and Miller get Garcia’s nod, he could become the first Moto2 champion not to make the step up to MotoGP next year since Johann Zarco in 2015.
One reason Garcia is unlikely to ride a Pramac Yamaha is his lack of experience. Garcia is 21 and has only been one of the Moto2 front-runners this season, so it may be too early to promote him to MotoGP.
Tony Arbolino:
If Pramac Yamaha were to select a rookie rider for 2025, it would likely be Tony Arbolino. In the middle of the 2023 season, there were reports that Arbolino would be given a MotoGP opportunity. However, after an inconsistent end to last season, Arbolino was overlooked.
The Italian rider has not performed well in Moto2 since switching to Pirelli tyres. But one of the main factors that ties Arbolino to Yamaha is his relationship with Fabio Quartararo. The Frenchman and the Italian are good friends and the 2021 MotoGP world champion has always been an advocate for Arbolino to get a MotoGP seat.
If Quartararo has any influence on who will ride for Yamaha on one of the Pramac bikes, it is likely to be his good friend. Arbolino has done more in Moto2 than Quartararo has in his time in the intermediate class, with the Italian taking six wins and seven more podiums to his name. Proving that on his day he is capable of being at the forefront of Moto2 despite his performances in 2024.
