Ai Ogura will move to MotoGP next season when he joins Trackhouse Racing on a two-year deal.

It has finally been confirmed that Ai Ogura will step up to the MotoGP Championship in 2025 with Trackhouse Aprilia.

The Japanese rider has been supported by HRC throughout his career, meaning he was often linked to the LCR Honda Idemitsu team, however the 23-year-old has decided to buck the odds and sign with Trackhouse.

Ogura is currently second in the Moto2 standings, behind his MT Helmets-MSi teammate Sergio Garcia. With half the season still to go, the Japanese rider can still qualify for MotoGP as Moto2 champion.

Ogura will join Raul Fernandez on the American team next season, replacing the departing Miguel Oliveira.

“First of all, I would like to thank all the people who are part of this project and everyone who has supported me,” said Ogura. “Of course, this is the dream! The last step to take. MotoGP is the maximum level you can reach, so I am really happy to have reached there.

“I’m very happy to be able to race in the premier class and I can’t wait to do it with the Trackhouse Racing MotoGP team. I can see that the team is really competitive and the bike is very strong and as a rider my job is to do what I can with everything I have. It’s always the same mentality but I’m very happy to be part of Trackhouse and to take this step towards MotoGP with them – I’m just looking forward to starting 2025.

“Now I have to think about the Moto2 World Championship. I will try to finish this year in the best possible way and arrive in 2025 well prepared. Thanks everyone and see you next year!”
