EXCLUSIVE: Quiver Distribution has acquired North American rights to A Mistake, a suspenseful medical drama starring three-time Emmy nominee Elizabeth Banks (Skincare), from Cornerstone Films.
The film comes to its Quiver deal following its successful launch at the 2024 Tribeca Festival and the now complete sell-out of all territories. It’s slated for release in theaters on September 20, which will also see the release of Apple and Sony’s crime thriller Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt; A24’s A Different Man; Lionsgate’s horror thriller Never Let Go; Paramount’s Transformers One; and more.

Written and directed by Christine Jeffs, the filmmaker behind titles like Sunshine Cleaning and Sylvia, A Mistake is based on the 2019 novel by Carl Shuker. The story delves into the perilous aftermath of a split-second medical decision from surgeon Elizabeth Taylor (Banks), unfolding a thrilling exploration of the fatal ripple effects triggered by a single human error.
A GFC Films production, the film also stars Simon McBurney (Carnival Row), Mickey Sumner (Snowpiercer) and Rena Owen (Siren). Matthew Metcalfe produced alongside Jeffs, with Cornerstone’s Alison Thompson and Mark Gooder serving as executive producers. The film was financed by the New Zealand Film Commission and Te Puna Kairangi, the New Zealand Government’s Premium Productions for International Audiences Fund, together with Ingenious Media.
Larry Greenberg represented Quiver Distribution in the deal for rights to A Mistake, with Cornerstone and UTA Independent Film Group negotiating on behalf of the filmmakers.
