Joey Lawrence’s wife Samantha Cope has filed for divorce after two years of marriage.
Cope cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split, according to legal docs obtained by Page Six on Wednesday.
While Cope also waived any rights for spousal support, she requested sole physical custody of their 1-year-old daughter, Dylan Rose, asking that Lawrence only be allowed to visit her at Cope’s discretion.
She goes on to say in her filing that she’s opposed to Lawrence taking their daughter for extended periods of time until she’s old enough to consent.
“Once Dylan is 3 or older, Joe will have the option to take her for 2 nights in her home location if he is not working and can facilitate her visiting. He will not take her for long, extended periods of time until she is old enough to specifically ask for the visitation time and all parties agree and able to facilitate,” the docs read.
“He must be available for the full time she is visiting while she is a minor. She is not to be in the presence of any non-family members while with Joe unless agreed upon by Samantha.”
She also says the couple separated two months prior to her filing.
Lawrence’s reps didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The former couple met while working together on the set of the Lifetime movie “My Husband’s Secret Brother.” They became engaged in August 2021.
“Guess the cats outta the bag,” Lawrence told his Instagram followers at the time. “We are beyond excited to see what the future holds for us and to know we will grow old and super wrinkly together is the ultimate blessing.”
Cope and Lawrence were married in February 2022 — the same month he finalized his divorce from ex-wife Chandie Yawn-Nelson.
Lawrence welcomed two daughters Charleston, 18, and Liberty, 14, in 2006 and 2010, respectively.
Lawrence and Yawn-Nelson ended their relationship in July 2020.
