JEOPARDY! bosses have seemingly revealed that another spinoff is in the works, likely joining the brand-new Pop Culture Jeopardy! on Amazon Prime Video.
The U.S. Sun was the first to notice that the description of a new job opening mentioned an unannounced show called Sports Jeopardy!.
Jeopardy! fans had a meltdown on Tuesday after its social media pages shared a rare job opening to work on the long-running game show.
“Apply for the Supervising Producer, Contestant Recruitment & Development position with the link in bio,” the official Jeopardy! Instagram page posted alongside a screenshot of the posting.
According to the graphic, Jeopardy! is seeking applicants “experienced in contestant recruitment, “knowledgeable about TV show production,” and “passionate about Jeopardy!.”
The job listing on Sony Pictures Jobs says the role will see the successful applicant reporting directly to the Executive Producer.
“The main goal for this role will be to oversee the direction of the show’s contestant department – being hyper-focused on the contestants and recruitment strategies by expanding, strengthening, and diversifying Jeopardy!’s contestant pool as well as enhancing the contestant experience,” the description reads.
The full-time position pays “$5,000.00 – $7,000.00 per week,” a minimum of $250,000 annually.
The listing also states: “The ideal candidate will be Jeopardy!‘s #1 fan” and notes that the job is open to hardcore fans or even former contestants.
Many former contestants work for the show, from permanent host Ken Jennings to Inside Jeopardy! podcast co-host Buzzy Cohen.
“We are looking for someone who has passion and love for Jeopardy!. Maybe you’re a former contestant, or actively involved in the Jeopardy! community or have always dreamt of working at Jeopardy!” the description continues.
“Whatever the motivation, we’re looking for someone who can enhance Jeopardy!‘s culture and bring a different perspective to the contestant selection process.”
‘SPORTS JEOPARDY!’
But here’s where things get interesting: A footnote of the listing refers to another potential spinoff series.
Under the “Responsibilities” section, a bullet point reads: “Spearhead Jeopardy!’s efforts to recruit the best players possible to take the Anytime Test and any future specific test (i.e. Pop Culture and Sports Jeopardy!).”
Pop Culture Jeopardy! was announced earlier this year, and SNL‘s Colin Jost will be the host.
However, this is the first mention of a potential sports-based Jeopardy! show.
There was previously a short-lived spinoff called Sports Jeopardy! that aired on Crackle in 2014.
BUZZING IN KATIE NOLAN?
If there is a Sports Jeopardy! coming, sportscaster Katie Nolan, who placed runner-up on Celebrity Jeopardy!, could be named host.
The U.S. Sun previously reported how Katie hinted she was “in talks” to host an upcoming spinoff before Colin was linked to Pop Culture Jeopardy!.
“There has been some speculation online about you as the potential host for Pop Culture Jeopardy!,” she was asked on the What Is…a Jeopardy! podcast.
When asked if she would respond to those rumors, Katie replied, “I can’t.”
“But I will say that I would love that, and that would be something I’d be interested in having a conversation about.”
She clarified: “Whether or not I’ve had the conversation, I will just say I can’t respond.”
‘DREAM JOB!’
After the listing was posted, fans flooded Jeopardy!’s social media pages in excitement over the idea of working for the show.
“New dream job,” one fan commented on Instagram.
“I wish I can get hired solely based off my love for jeopardy,” wrote another.
“I have none of those qualifications but I want that job!!!!!!!” declared a third.
“OMG WHAT A DREAM JOB!!!” wrote a fourth.
“But I don’t want to get other people on the show, I want to get on the show!” another quipped.
“When are you hiring writers?” begged one more.
