Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts on The View are blaming Donald Trump supporters for a sudden outbreak of criticism against Taylor Swift amid her boyfriend Travis Kelce‘s slow start this football season.
On this morning’s episode of The View, the ladies broke down the most recent controversy, in which Kansas City Chiefs fans have been accusing Swift of taking Kelce’s mind off the game.
Goldberg kicked off the conversation by telling her co-hosts, “They apparently forgot that they won the Super Bowl last year with him and they were just as tight then as they are now. What is going on?”
Meanwhile, certified Swiftie Alyssa Farah Griffin added that the Chiefs have also won all three games they’ve played this season so far, noting that while Kelce is “not making touchdowns,” that “doesn’t mean he’s not contributing to the success of the team” in other ways.
Griffin was also frustrated that fans were once again blaming a woman for a man’s shortcomings — a “biblical” trope that host Joy Behar claimed “goes back to the Garden of Eden.”
While Goldberg pointed out that Kelce is “busy” starring in movies and television commercials, she also speculated that politics might’ve played a big part in the scrutiny against Swift, who recently endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election.
“I’m blaming MAGA. I think it’s them because they’re mad that she’s not supporting you know who,” she said, before Behar later replied, “I think you’re right. I think it’s that group.”
Sunny Hostin also agreed that it’s “probably the crazy MAGA people that are upset about this.”
Goldberg then asked, “Why else would this suddenly be an issue?” while Behar added, “They need to watch that because they’re losing the women’s vote as is.”
Remember: Hell hath no fury like a Swiftie scorned.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
