Martha Stewart's prison 'best friend' has slammed the star for failing to give her the $1 million she promised while they were behind bars in the early 2000s.
Lisa Guarino claimed the TV personality expressed how “grateful” she was to have a friend like her in prison and pledged to give her $1 million when she was released.
“I told my family they no longer needed to spend money on my books because they would take care of me,” Guarino told the Daily Mail.
When Guarino, who had been spending time at FPC Alderson in West Virginia selling coke to support herself and her family, moved to another facility, she discovered her account was empty.
“I could have killed Martha when I found out she didn't keep her word. She told my family they didn't have to spend money on my books anymore because she would take care of me, but she gave me a giant donut.
“Then my phone privileges were suspended for three months so I couldn’t ask my family for money. It was hell, and I suffered partly because Martha wouldn’t keep her word.”
Since Guarino's release in 2006, she has faced multiple health battles, including being diagnosed with lymphoma and leukemia.
She currently lives on her limited Social Security of about $600 a month in a $1,900-a-month one-bedroom apartment outside Boston.
Guarino, who allegedly took Stewart under her wing in prison, is unable to work due to her health condition.
Page Six reached out to Stewart's rep for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
Stewart served five months at FPC Alderson from October 8, 2004, to March 4, 2005, after being convicted on felony charges for lying about stock trading.
Meanwhile, the interior designer is currently living her best life, promoting her new Netflix documentary, “Martha,” in which she talks about her time in prison.
In the document, Stewart said she was “taken to solitary confinement for touching an officer.”
