A Maryland mother of a newborn daughter died two days after she was thrown from a golf cart near a members-only golf course over the weekend, according to authorities.
Police said Mary Beth Blasetti, 32, was riding as a passenger with another woman driving on Mid Marion Hill on Saturday when the golf cart hit a dip and ejected her from the car, WJZ News reported.
The new mother was airlifted to hospital where she died from her injuries on Monday.
An investigation has been opened into the incident, but the Anne Arundel County Police Department said it appears to be an accident.
“This is a very tragic and unfortunate situation,” department spokesman Justin Mulcahy said, according to the station.
“Our hearts go out to everyone affected and we will continue to investigate the matter with the state's attorney's office just to determine exactly what happened here.”
Blasetti was remembered as a wife and mother to her 2-month-old daughter. She and her husband also recently purchased their first home together in Annapolis.
“Mary Beth brought joy to so many and had a vast community of friends and family who are devastated by her sudden death,” friends wrote in a post on GoFundMe.
He added: “She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.”
A fundraiser for her grieving family has raised more than $276,000 as of Wednesday night.
