THIS is the terrifying moment a damaged cruise ship tipped 45 degrees onto its side, smashing furniture and injuring a passenger.
Passengers feared they would “die like they did on the Titanic” when glasses shattered and people sent their final text messages to loved ones to say goodbye.
Dramatic footage shows objects sliding out of place and people struggling to maintain their balance as the ship is battered by strong 86mph winds.
It happened after the Royal Caribbean Cruise ship was terrified by bad weather off the Coat of Africa on November 7.
The ship was near Tenerife at the time.
There were 5,000 people on board, and the tilt maintained its terrifying angle for three agonizing minutes.
Dan, from Toronto, Canada, thought he was going to die, and went so far as to send final messages.
“As I left the bar I heard screaming, glasses were falling and the ship started to tilt,” he recalls.
“You can see the whole banner ad hitting a guy and he saves himself and grabs his girlfriend. He was in shock.
“I wondered if this was normal, but whenever I heard people screaming, I got scared and had to turn off the video.
“It wasn't the full tilt you see in the video, but about halfway. It was like the Titanic.”
“Some people asked me to come over to them, so we grabbed each other and the chairs around us.
“I thought this might be the end and that the ship would fall into the water.
“I took out my phone and texted my teammates that I don't know what's going to happen and I should care.
“I was writing my last letter thinking I was going to die.
“The waves usually make the ship wobbly, but for five minutes it was leaning to one side. It stayed in place for about three minutes.
“When he leaned back, it was a huge relief and I knew we had escaped something big.
“Watching the video gives me goosebumps, and now I feel like I got a new life because we thought it was over.”

One passenger known as “Batecruz” was shocked that no one ended up in the freezing water.
“I spoke to a neighbor who mentioned that she went and opened her porch during this listing and was surprised at how close we were to the water,” they said.
“She's lucky she didn't get in. Her son is on the second floor and his window was in the ocean.”
The unidentified passenger also said that it took the flight crew two and a half hours after the mile to start checking if anyone was missing.
At this point, anyone would have died long ago if they had fallen into it.
Dan So, 41, was leaving a bar audition on a Royal Caribbean cruise from Spain to Miami, US, when he was startled by “screaming and smashing glasses”.
The terror continued
Following the incident, passengers were asked to return to their cabins for a head count and to check their safety.
Royal Caribbean confirmed that one of the passengers was injured and needed further medical care.
The 12-night cruise was forced to stop Las PalmasSpain, so that the injured guest can be seen.

Another asked: “I really don't understand why everything isn't mounted to the floor/wall.”
One user replied: “It takes a lot for a boat to move things like this, so it has to be rocking sideways.”
A Royal Caribbean The official spokesman said: “During unexpected winds near Tenerife, SpainOne of our flights saw a sudden movement.
“One of our guests has been injured and needs additional medical attention, so the ship will be calling Las Palmas, Spain For medical disembarkation.
