The 'nasty celebrities' who attacked Princess Kate should be ashamed of themselves, an expert has slammed.
The Princess of Wales was subjected to a “terrible tweet” last weekend when she bravely appeared in public again despite her battle with cancer.
Good Morning Britain star Narinder Kaur cruelly suggested Kate is a smoker because of her looks and asked “why has she aged so much?”
Speaking on The Sun's Royal Exclusive Show with royal editor Matt Wilkinson, expert and reporter Bronte Cowie said the tweet was “insensitive” and “hugely disappointing”.
She said: “The initial tweet was deleted and the person concerned apologized and said it was insensitive.
“But the most confusing part was the follow-up, apology video, which served as a platform for discussion about how sick Kate was and what exactly was wrong with her.
“Keeping in mind that she put herself out there in a way that we haven't really seen from the royal family, in sharing how she felt about her health journey, she gave us more information than she had to.
“So, to once again have a platform to analyze what's wrong with it… I think that was really disappointing.”
Vanity Fair's Katie Nicholl, who also appeared on this week's show, added: “This is someone who has an opinion and frankly an opinion that doesn't need airing.”
“The person concerned wondered if the only reason the Princess of Wales looked that way was because she might have been smoking.
“I think most people looked at the Princess of Wales and thought it was great to have you here.
“She's a busy young mother. She's probably had the toughest year of her life.”
“She underwent extremely stressful treatment, underwent major surgery, and had to psychologically cope with her cancer diagnosis.”
Kate, 42, watched from a balcony overlooking the memorial in central London on Remembrance Sunday last week.
This was her second appearance at a Remembrance event in as many days after returning to work after completing her treatment.
But after Kate's appearance at the party, TV personality Narinder tweeted about how much older she is.
Kate, 51, who has appeared on GB News and Loose Women, wrote: “Real question – why has Kate aged so much?
“Isn't she only 42? Is she a smoker? That's the only explanation.”
Narinder faced a wave of backlash over X with users describing her comments as “horrific” and “disgusting”.
She later shared a tweet in response to the criticism that has now been deleted.
The former Big Brother housemate admitted the remark she made was “stupid” and “insensitive”.
She wrote: “I posted a tweet earlier. Real question why Kate Middleton is so old.
“It was a real question. I thought maybe she was a smoker. It was a stupid and insensitive tweet.”
“More so because the person who lost his brother to cancer should have known better.”
Narinder then posted a video admitting that the tweet was “stupid”.
“I thought I'd do a quick video instead of tweet after tweet, because it's getting so ridiculous – as if it wasn't ridiculous enough already,” she said.
“I posted a stupid tweet. That was not my intention, it was not my intention to be malicious or bad or anything like that.
“I'm not, anyone knows me. It was stupid of me to ask about old age.”
“I admitted it, raised my hand and apologized if it caused any offence.”
In January, Kate spent 13 nights at a London clinic to have abdominal surgery.
Subsequent tests revealed she had cancer, and she began preventive chemotherapy in late February.
In September, she told the world in a family video that she had finished chemotherapy.
Arthur Edwards When Kate smiles, it's like a clap of thunder – our beautiful princess is on the road to recovery, and we couldn't be happier
You could have heard a pin drop as King Charles led Britain in the somber two minutes of remembrance.
The monarch appeared to carry the troubles of the world on his shoulders as he laid a wreath at the memorial.
Our King cares deeply about the soldiers who gave their lives for Britain.
He was thinking of those he had also lost in recent years, his mother the Queen being one of them.
I also remembered my family members who lost their lives in World War I.
My grandfather – my name is one I never met – was only 36 years old when he gave his life for our country.
He left behind five children, my father being one of them. I think about him often.
But the star was the Princess of Wales, and we were thrilled to see her.
Catherine – beautiful as always – looked very good as she shared the balcony with Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
She appeared somber, along with the rest of Britons, during two minutes of silence to remember the brave heroes who gave their lives.
But then… a smile. It was like thunder clapping through the camera. She's the star attraction.
Too bad our beautiful Queen Camilla wasn't by her side. She loved being there.
But she felt, of course, that she should stay warm, and recover from her chest infection. A wreath was placed on her.
As the party progresses, we see Catherine chatting with Sophie – they are, of course, great friends.
The hymns were sung together – and with a lot of enthusiasm at that. I would love to hear Kate sing…
I – like all of us – want to see Catherine well before she goes back to work.
The ceremony showed that our princess is on the path to recovery. I look forward to seeing more of her in the future.
