Jim Carrey's older sister, Rita, has died, her husband announced on Friday.
The sister of the legendary actress died “peacefully and quietly” and was “surrounded by her family.”

“It is with a heavy heart and deepest sadness, surrounded by her family and friends, that Rita passed away peacefully and quietly on November 14, 2024,” her husband, Alex, wrote in a Facebook post.
“Rita and I have been together for 16 years and just got married last year in July in the outdoor wedding she always wanted.
“Rita always had a loving spirit and wanted to help everyone, even strangers.
“As everyone knows Christmas was Rita’s favorite holiday, in fact it was every day for her and she started fundraising to help a local charity.”
“Family and friends are invited to attend a candlelight vigil in memory of Rita on December 7” at an address in Ontario, he said.
