Georgia coach Kirby Smart criticized the College Football Playoffs committee on Saturday.
Smart watched his Bulldogs salvage their season with a big win over an SEC rival.
He used his post-game interview to attack the CFP with Georgia poised to miss the 12-team playoff.
The Bulldogs entered Saturday's showdown with the Tennessee Volunteers ranked No. 12 in the country.
But they would miss the playoffs with No. 13 Boise State taking their place.
This is because Boise State was expected to be the top-ranked champion from the Tier II conference.
The Bulldogs were ranked as the No. 1 team in the country when the season began.
But they faced the real possibility of losing a 12-team playoff if they lost to Tennessee in an unimaginable scenario.
Georgia ran out a 31-17 winner over the No. 7-ranked Tennessee Volunteers.
As a result they improved their record to 8-2 that season.
The Bulldogs have had a tougher schedule than the likes of Indiana, who are 10-0 and poised to make the playoffs.
Smart was asked by ESPN anchor Laura Rutledge after Saturday's win what he thought they showed the committee.
“Well, I don't know because I don't know what they're looking for,” he admitted.
“I really don't know what they're looking for anymore.”
Smart explained his statements in detail in his post-match press conference.
“I hope they can really set the standards,” he said.
“I hope they can do the eyeball test where they come here and look at the people we're playing against and look at them.
How the 12-Team CFP Works
The first 12-team College Football Playoff begins on Friday, December 20.
But who will enter?
All four of the top-seeded conference champions in the first round will be guaranteed a round-robin round in the new year.
The top-5 ranked conference champion will also be guaranteed a spot, regardless of whether it is ranked among the top 12 teams in the country.
This ensures that a champion from one of the Tier II conferences will have a chance to play in the national championship.
Teams seeded fifth through eighth will host a first-round playoff game on Friday, December 20th or Saturday, December 21st.
They will face teams ranked from ninth to twelfth.
All of these rankings and rankings are determined by a CFP committee – based on record and strength of schedule among other factors.
This year's national championship game will be held on Monday, January 20 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
“You don't see these things on TV, so I don't know what they're looking for.
“But that is for someone else to decide.
“I'm worried about our team.”
The 12-team playoffs will come into effect for the first time this season.
The first round will be held between the teams ranked No. 5 and No. 8 on Friday, December 20 and Saturday, December 21.
The four top-ranked conference champions are guaranteed a bye into the quarterfinals come the new year.
