‘Outlander’ Star David Berry Addresses Lord John Grey Spinoff Series

Business

to Outlander Fans who have longed for a Lord John Gray spinoff, David Berry, who plays the character in the original Starz series, has some thoughts to share.

As a reminder, strike Outlander The series, which will conclude its run with the upcoming eighth season, is based on the best-selling novels by Diana Gabaldon. She also authored the Lord John Gray series of three novels and six novels, which Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch has expressed interest in expanding into her own television series. There have been no major developments on this front so far.

Perry opened up about what happened behind the scenes in a chat with Deadline earlier today while promoting the Mothership series' upcoming seventh season premiere on November 22 on Starz.

“I haven't talked about it. But I think since the series ended, I feel more comfortable talking about it. “There was a time in season four when we were going to film Lord John; It was written, well, there was a writer attached, and I signed a contract to do a series. It came down to whether or not it would be approved by the network, but ultimately, at that time, it was decided that this wasn't a good fit, or it wasn't the right thing for them. “I was ready to do it, and I'm still ready to do it.”

Although the situation was not right, Perry hoped that Lord John Gray's project could one day be implemented.

“He died [B. Roberts] And Mariel [Davis]executive producers on outlander, They also expressed great interest in doing so. So I think it really depends on finding a network for it and the audience's interest in going ahead and doing a spinoff. But it was definitely something that was on the cards at some point. The fact that it didn't go ahead was very disappointing at the time. But whether or not it will go ahead again is really in the hands of the fans, and whether or not there's still interest in seeing more of this character.

As with everything related to television these days, it's complicated.

What's also complicated for Lord John is what lies ahead in the next batch of episodes that will be released soon. Although I'm sworn to secrecy, it's safe to say that some of the show's biggest dramatic moments featuring Gray alongside his friends Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are still to come. And for a little extra excitement, there's a lot going on in the life of William (Charles Vandervaart), John and Jamie's adorable child.

If you've already read the books, keep the spoilers quiet for a little while longer, please.
